Use tweet.me.it to shorten web addresses in order to make them more shareable in Twitter updates and status updates on Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Bebo etc. To date we’ve saved enough characters to write the bible. By next summer the entire contents of the British Library.
Once you’re registered with tweet.me.it you can tell us what social networks you’re on or if you have your own website. When you shorten links and those links are clicked on, the original web page will be displayed below the ‘identity strip’ - a slim bar containing icons linking to each of these along with your Twitter name and (optionally) a picture. If you're signed up to tweet.me.it you can see how many clicks your links get, break that down by day and see total clicks per day. Your links can be sorted by date or popularity, giving you access to a snapshot of what your friends or audience are most interested in. In the tweet.me.it identity strip users can also see your most recent and popular links.
